✨Alhumdulillah for Our Youth✨
Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet (SAWS) said, “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.” [Sahih]
“InshaAllah I’ll read more Qu’ran when I’m older and have more time.”
“I’m just too busy right now with school and work.”
It’s easy to come up with excuses. It’s easy to say you’ll do it tomorrow, especially when tomorrow never comes. The truth is our youth, like time, is fleeting and we need to take advantage of it as the Prophet (SAWS) has advised us. A true believer will find ways to worship and please Allah (SWT) in the present moment.
We often don’t think of saying alhumdulillah for our young age and the blessings and energy it brings us. However, it is important to realize that this is a great blessing from Allah (SWT). You will never be younger than right now. This is something to be grateful for and we must show that gratitude to Allah (SWT) by utilizing the blessings of our young age to serve Him.
This means taking those moments in between our busy lives to engage in acts of ibadah. This means getting involved in da’wah work. This means volunteering for various efforts for the sake of Allah (SWT). We must not let these opportunities of ajr pass by with the thought of “doing it when I’m older.” The time and age to take advantage of is now. Start working hard today for the sake of Allah (SWT) and carry those habits and actions into your everyday life tomorrow, inshaAllah.
